Dutch Museum Churches

Welkom in het grootste museum

The Oudenbosch Basilica is part of the Dutch Museum Churches, an initiative of the Catharijne Convent. The Dutch Museum Churches is founded in 2016 to make churches in the Netherlands well known by the general public. The Dutch Museum Churches consists of over 15 churches and synagoges. From big churches like the Oudenbosch Basilica to the small pittoresque churches in Groningen and Friesland.

Visit the Dutch Museum Churches

All churches that are part of Dutch Museum Churches are worth the visit. From the Sint-Jan in Gouda with its stained-glass windows to the small churches in Groningen. All churches offer an audio tour and/or guided tours through their history.

A Michelinstar for religious heritage

All participating churches, more than 15, offer an unique story that needs to be told and be heard. For those churches it's not just a participation, but a recognition. A kind of Michelinstar for religious heritage. Not just catholic or Christian churches, but also jewish synagoges.

The Catherijneconvent

The Catherijneconvent organises Dutch Museum Churches. From the idea that tourists all over the world visit churches but in the Netherlands, these kinds of visit are not so common. With this initiative the convent tries to stimulate church visits, religious, cultural or touristic for inhabitants and visitors.
